agent-ready is our own skill. It checks your site on isitagentready.com, Cloudflare's free scanner, explains what's missing, and adds a Content-Signal line to robots.txt: the file that tells crawlers (the programs search engines and AI companies use to download pages) what they may fetch. The new line says what they may do with it: show it in search, use it in AI answers, or train on it.
You pick the policy. The skill finds how your robots.txt is made, adds the line without changing anything else, and checks the live file and the scan again after you publish. We used it to take six of our own sites from Level 1 to Level 2 in an afternoon.
Step by step, with what to pick and how to check it worked: Make your site agent-ready: robots.txt for AI.
Before you install
- The install line goes in Terminal and needs git. The setup guide for your computer (Mac, Windows or Linux) installs it.
- It never adds rules that block crawlers, and it won't choose whether AI companies may train on your content: that's your call.
Install it
The commands below are for AI coding tools like Claude Code, which work with files on your computer. They won't do anything typed into a ChatGPT or Claude chat in your browser. Don't have a coding tool yet? Install Claude Code first.
Copy the line below into Terminal, the app where you type commands to your computer, not into Claude Code's chat.
