How to vibe code
Use the AI you already pay for to build things you keep: a page, a helper for your job, a message when something you care about changes.
Vibe coding means building software by describing what you want in plain English, while an AI writes the code. You don't need to know a programming language. You need a clear idea of what you want, and the patience to check the result and ask for changes.
This site teaches that from zero, for people who have never coded. Maybe you're an analyst with a spreadsheet you fix every Friday, someone with an app idea you keep describing to friends, or someone who wants one annoying part of your job to go away.
What you need: a Mac or Windows computer, and a paid AI plan like Claude Pro (about $20 a month). Everything else on this site is free.
How it works:
- The basics. A few one-time setups: get your computer ready, save your work on GitHub, and install your AI coding helper. Each guide shows every click, and each one has a video.
- Solve a real problem. Small, practical guides for real problems at work and home, like cleaning up a spreadsheet or automating your weekly report, with the code to copy.
- Projects. A new one every week: a party game, generators, calculators, small AI tools. Each has a written guide, a video of it being built, and a live version you can try.
- AI engineering. Once you've built something, you learn to run your AI helper well: describing work clearly, teaching it your project, and eventually having it work while you sleep.
Every guide is written for someone who has never opened a terminal. If a word is new, it gets explained the first time it shows up. New here? Start with What is vibe coding, then Start here.
The basicsdo these in order
- What is vibe codingYou describe a tool in English. A program on your laptop builds it. You keep it. ChatGPT in a browser cannot do that.
- Get your computer readyMac or Windows. The one-time installs, about 10 minutes.
- Save your work (GitHub)A free backup with an undo button for everything you build.
- Your AI coding helperClaude Code: the AI that builds files on your computer.
Solve a real problemsmall and practical
- Get reports from your customer spreadsheet with AI (without sharing it)Turn a messy customer spreadsheet into weekly reports with AI, while the AI only ever sees your column names, never your customers. About 25 minutes.
- Automate your weekly work reportComing soonTurn what you did this week into the report your boss expects, daily or weekly, without writing it from scratch every time.
Projectsa new one every week
- Build an imposter party gameComing soonA pass-the-phone party game: everyone gets the same secret word except the imposter. Built with AI, live on the internet.
- Build a Halloween costume idea generatorComing soonPick a few options, and AI suggests costume ideas: solo, couples, or groups.
- Build a Secret Santa generatorComing soonAdd everyone's names, draw at random, and each person sees only who they're buying for.
AI engineeringafter your first project
- From chatting to managingComing soonThe biggest shift isn't technical. You stop asking AI questions and start giving it jobs, like a manager with a very fast new hire.
- Describe the work in a paragraphComing soonThe main thing separating a senior developer from a beginner is knowing what to say. Learn to turn a workflow into one clear paragraph.
- Give your AI a memory of your projectComing soonOne file that tells your AI about your project, your rules, and your preferences, so you don't repeat yourself every session.
- Skills: teach your AI a task onceComing soonPackage a job you do often, like your weekly report, into a skill your AI can pick up and follow on its own.
- Connect your AI to your apps (MCP)Coming soonLet your AI read your calendar, your notes, or your project tracker, safely, using connectors called MCP.
- Hooks: automatic checks on your AIComing soonRules that run by themselves every time your AI does something, like checking its work or blocking a risky action.
- Let AI work while you sleep (Hermes)Coming soonAn AI agent that runs all the time, remembers you, and that you can message from your phone. Set up Hermes step by step.
- Keep your AI on a leashComing soonWhat to let your AI do on its own, what to approve yourself, and how to keep your files, keys, and accounts safe.
- What it costs (and how to avoid surprise bills)Coming soonSubscriptions vs pay-as-you-go API keys, usage limits, and simple ways to keep AI spending predictable.
