Home / Projects / LinkWash: copy links without the trackers

LinkWash privacy policy

Updated Oct 29, 2026

LinkWash doesn't collect, send or sell any data. Links are cleaned on your computer.

LinkWash is a Chrome extension made by Build Lean SaaS, the small studio behind vibehowto. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share any data.

Links you copy

When you copy something, LinkWash checks whether it is a single web link. If it is, LinkWash removes known tracking codes from it inside your browser. The link is never sent anywhere.

What it stores

Two values, saved inside Chrome on your own computer (Chrome keeps a small private storage area for each extension):

  • whether LinkWash is switched on
  • how many links it has cleaned

Removing the extension deletes both.

Internet connections

LinkWash makes no network requests. The only links that leave the extension are the ones you click yourself in its popup: the source code on GitHub, the project page on vibehowto.com and the tip page on Stripe.

Permissions

  • All sites: share buttons and copied links exist on every site. LinkWash only looks at text at the moment you copy it, and only changes it when it is a single link with tracking codes.
  • Storage: remembers the on/off switch and the count.
  • Context menus: adds "Copy clean link" and "Copy clean link to this page" to the right-click menu.
  • Offscreen: a hidden page the extension uses to write to the clipboard when you use the right-click menu or the keyboard shortcut.
  • Clipboard (write): puts the cleaned link on your clipboard. LinkWash never reads what's already on your clipboard.
  • Active tab: reads the address of the page you're on, only when you press the shortcut, use the popup or choose "Copy clean link to this page".
