pstack is Lauren Tan's set of skills for serious coding work. You start a task with poteto-mode. It decides what kind of job it is (fixing a bug, adding a feature, cleaning up old code, making something faster) and follows a step-by-step plan for that kind of job, calling the other skills as each step needs them.
Most of its skills are principles the agent sticks to while it works, like "prove it works" and "fix the cause, not the symptom". The aim is smaller changes that were checked in the real app before anyone calls them done.
Before you install
- It's built for Cursor first. Claude Code gets a copy that's generated from it, and steps only Cursor can do are skipped there.
- After installing, run /pstack:setup-pstack once to choose which AI models it uses. In Claude Code, every pstack command starts with "/pstack:", so poteto-mode is typed /pstack:poteto-mode.
- Most skills only run when you type them, for example /pstack:poteto-mode.
- Someone else keeps an unofficial copy at backnotprop/pstack for other tools. It's updated by hand and adds a few skills of its own.
Install it
The commands below are for AI coding tools like Claude Code, which work with files on your computer. They won't do anything typed into a ChatGPT or Claude chat in your browser. Don't have a coding tool yet? Install Claude Code first.
Use the box for the tool you have, and copy its commands. Lines that start with / go in the tool's chat box. Other lines go in Terminal, the app where you type commands to your computer. A plugin is a bundle of skills made for one tool, and a marketplace is the list the tool installs it from.

- poteto-modeThe starting point. It works out what kind of job your task is and calls the other pstack skills as steps need them. Use it at the start of a bug fix, a new feature or a cleanup.
- interrogateHas several reviewers, ideally different AI models, look for problems in a change, and keeps only the problems it can show really happen. Use it before you accept a change into your project.
- unslopEdits writing to remove the usual AI-sounding phrasing. Use it on project descriptions, notes about a change, and replies before you publish them.
- architectHas the agent decide how the new code will be laid out (what pieces it has and how they connect) before writing it. Use it when the wrong layout would be costly to undo.
All 58 skills are listed in the pack's source. Checked by hand; see how we pick packs.
